The Doylestown Arts Festival is something I look forward to attending every year with my family. This year the festival had gorgeous weather and included many talented artisans. I strolled through the historic streets of town and admired the many handmade pieces I found along the way.

The Doylestown Arts Festival is a juried festival that features a wide variety of artisans, entertainment, activities, and food. The festival is free to the community, and is hosted within the Doylestown Borough. I saw many tents filled with beautiful, handcrafted items, but a few in particular caught my eye. One of the artisans I visited was The Bowlmaker. In fact, one of his gorgeous wooden pears now sits on the mantel of my fireplace.

Photographs do not do any justice to the gorgeous grain of the wood, or the beautifully crafted pieces that he creates. I highly recommend seeing his work in person if you can because it is simply necessary to fully appreciate his hand crafted works of art.

The Doylestown Arts Festival featured a number of artisans across different mediums such as: jewelry, photography, wood, glass, metal, textile, watercolor, and oils. There was something for everyone, regardless of interests or age.

I paused to admire the work of Carole Kyle. Her handbags are unique, one-of-a-kind pieces, with the materials selected by the artist herself. You can view more of her work on her web site.

I found myself really drawn to a lot of the wooden handmade work this year. The tent by Unique Birdhouses featured many interesting wooden birdhouses that make great use of the natural characteristics of wood. The birdhouses are thoughtfully crafted and would be a great accompaniment to any garden.
